 Valpolicella are red wines from the region east of Lake Garda and are developed as a blend of local grapes.
 
There are usually light, fruity wines with good acidity that is served in the area with meals.
 
Unfortunately, the reputation of these exciting wines has been damaged by a few mass producers.
 
For the Capitel Nicalo, grapes from over 20-year-old vines in the historic Valpolicella Classico area are dried like an amarone.
 
During these 30 days, the grapes lose 8-10% moisture. The wine then matures for 12-18 months in barrels of Slovenian oak and another 6 months in the bottle.
